Strictly Come Dancing has returned to our television screens and ‘love it’ or ‘hate it’ people are talking about dancing again. People who have no prior dance training are enjoying watching and giving their opinions of the dance routines performed by the celebrities and professionals. It’s a fun way to spend a Saturday evening. But have you thought about taking a few dance lessons yourself? Now this is usually when all the excuses are heard…..’I’ve got two left feet’…..’I haven’t got any rhythm’……’my wife/girlfriend is the dancer’……..’I take the children to dance classes but I don’t dance!’ …..’It’s too difficult, I could never do that!’
Dancing is really not that difficult, steps are broken down into ‘bitesize’ pieces and are only added to when the student has grasped the first set of steps. You will have heard from the ‘Strictly’ judges that some dances are harder than others. Obviously the complete beginner will start with the easier dances like the Cha Cha Cha or the Waltz and these will be developed slowly to match the capabilities of the students who are learning.
Dancing is fun, it’s an excellent form of exercise and is a great social asset, so why not have a try?
